'Talk It Out' is Amila's dreamy new single about letting everything go

Love this!

Amila's dreamy new single 'Talk It Out' is fast becoming a hit on our airwaves.

We caught up with her to chat about the new single and her future musical aspirations.

Where do you call home?

I was born in Chile but came to New Zealand when I was 7. I was raised here and would say New Zealand is my home. I say that because my most important years have been spent here. Going to school and making friends, discovering music. Growing up here I've picked up everything that a normal Kiwi kid would have.

Of course I've always had my Chilean culture that's never going to disappear. But also being from another country you feel like you're never 100% Kiwi or 100% Chilean. I've loved growing up here and it has opened the doors for so many opportunities and it has helped me not take things for granted.

What inspired your new song 'Talk It Out'?

'Talk It Out' was inspired by my last relationship. I was really tired of being upset about someone that was no longer in my life. It would make me mad just thinking about that person because I so desperately wanted to move on.

I gave myself 'Talk It Out' as a way of letting everything go for once. I didn't want to talk about it, I didn't want to think about that person anymore. 'Talk It Out' was a new start to myself, it was what I needed to move on.

I am very proud of this song, it is a new start to a different style of music and what better way to start it with letting something go.

What's your proudest musical moment?

I would say being able to 100% create the music that I want to make. To be able to show with every single release a new side of me without anyone having to tell that it's wrong.

Also releasing my first single, it made a way for me in the music industry. I'm just very excited to be able to grow as an artist.

What's a Kiwi song you're loving at the moment?

I absolutely love the song 'Picture on the Wall' By Wells, I have only just discovered his music and I got the chance to work with him on a song. I loved it. I think he has amazing songwriting skills and I just really love everything about that song.

What's one artist you would love to collaborate with?

I would really love to collaborate with male artists, I've always wanted to create latin music and would love love to be in a song with Bad Bunny, I know it's so different to my music but there's something so fun about him that I love.
