Oasis finally took the stage for the first time in sixteen years on Friday (July 4), performing the first show of their reunion tour in Wales. And they didn’t punch each other!
Liam and Noel Gallagher reunited on stage at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium which saw over 75,000 fans come together to witness the brothers’ long-awaited return.
The brothers, who quite literally hated each other for over 15 years, walked on stage for their first show holding hands, showing they’re ready to put their differences aside. For now, at least.
The lads kicked off their 23-song-setlist fittingly with Hello, with its chorus of “it’s good to be back,” marking the first time they’ve publicly played the song together since 2002. They then launched into Acquiesce - one of just a handful of songs that features vocals from both brothers.
“Liam, in particular, attacked the gig with wild-eyed passion - stalking the stage and biting into the lyrics like a lion tearing apart its prey,” wrote BBC Music Correspondent Mark Savage in a concert review.
Just one look at the set-list shows the duo played all of their hits, with the last three songs of their encore consisting of Don’t Look Back In Anger, Wonderwall and Champagne Supernova.
At one point during the show, Liam told the crowd, “Put your arms over each other like you love each other!” while simultaneously holding his classic tambourine.

Not only have they survived their first show, but as of the time of writing this article, they’ve also performed their second Cardiff gig.
Performing the exact same setlist as their first night, fans online sound stoked about both shows. It’s safe to say fans weren’t 100% sure what to expect, because let’s be honest, who ever knows what to expect with those two.
The brothers even shared a quick hug at the end of night two.
“It’s just really fucking nice to see,” wrote one person on reddit.
While another joked, “that was a bit of a co-worker hug but it's nice to see that they're getting along well.”
After seeing and hearing how well their first two shows have gone, at this rate, they might just make it through the whole tour without throwing a tambourine at each other.
