LEGO honour Black Sabbath by creating a custom set ahead of their final gig

“Black Sabbath are true Birmingham icons.”

Birmingham royalty Black Sabbath have been honoured with a number of murals, benches, parks and more throughout their time. Now, the city has taken those tributes to another level in the form of little plastic bricks - LEGO.

The LEGOLand Discover Centre in Birmingham, which is a smaller indoor version of the bigger outdoor LEGOLand theme parks scattered around the world, has unveiled a very detailed tribute to the band built entirely of LEGO.

It features minifigure versions of the entire band, including Ozzy Osbourne and his iconic circular glasses and luscious locks.

The brick-built homage is set inside the LEGOLand Discover Center’s Miniland, which is a scaled-down replica of some of Birmingham’s most iconic buildings, made out of over 1.5 MILLION LEGO bricks.

The Black Sabbath LEGO tribute is built against a miniature model of Villa Park - where the band and a stacked line-up of other artists and bands are set to perform this weekend - complete with stained glass windows and all.

“Black Sabbath are true Birmingham icons, and this felt like the perfect way to honour their final hometown show,” LEGOLAND Discovery Center’s GM Amy Langham said.

“Our master model builders had great fun bringing Ozzy and the band to life in LEGO form – and we hope it strikes a chord with Sabbath fans, young and old.”

Though a handful of fans have noticed one small inaccuracy with the LEGOLAND model … Tony Iommi’s holding his guitar in the wrong hand.

It might not be note-perfect, but when it comes to rock legends in LEGO form, we’ll let it slide.
