Slipknot drummer Eloy Casagrande met Bill Ward backstage after the conclusion of the Back to the Beginning gig in Birmingham.
The 34-year-old Brazilian shared the picture of him meeting his 77-year-old idol on his Instagram, captioning it: “Where it all began. Where it all will end. Your music will be eternal, master. Thank you @billwarddummer”.
Fans were quick to appreciate the two iconic percussionists.
“Now that’s a picture that says it all,” said one fan.
Another felt as though the drummer took the words right out of their mouth: “Couldn’t have said it better Eloy.”
“I’m not crying, I swear,” was one we could all relate to.
Ozzy Osbourne’s daughter Kelly even shared the picture to her Instagram, as part of a series of pics of the amazing night.
It proved to be quite a night for her too, getting engaged to long-term partner Sid Wilson in front of parents Sharon and Ozzy, as well as other family and friends.
Casagrande joined Mastodon on the stage, sharing the guest appearance with Gojira drummer Mario Duplantier and Tool’s Donny Carey.
The group performed Black Sabbath’s ‘Supernaut’, and it was epic.
Back to the Beginning was Ward’s first time sharing a stage with the original members in 20 years.
He cemented his legendary status by absolutely rocking the stage with no top on, as if he was youthful once again.
Despite this being their last live performance together, Ward told ‘Classic Rock’ that he was pretty keen on another album with the original team.
“I’d love to do another album… I’ll be direct about that,” were his words.
We sure wouldn’t complain about that.
Maybe Casagrande can even make a guest feature?
