NZSL Week ambassador Maria Foy is gifted a sign name, unique only to her

In the deaf world, each person have a unique sign name. This year, the NZSL Week ambassador is gifted her very own sign name.

Last Monday, we sent Mike Puru on the very first flight to use NZ Sign Language from Auckland to Wellington with Air New Zealand.

At the gate just before departure, Mike was catching up with Erica Dawson from Deaf Aotearoa, who had a gift for Maria Foy, the NZSL Week's ambassador.

That gift was Maria's very own sign name, unique to her. Watch the video below:
