Three Kiwi aunties hit hilarious panic mode at top of Rotorua Sky Swing

What was meant to be a cheeky little thrill ride for three Kiwi besties turned into pure chaos - and it’s now racked up nearly 7 million views on TikTok.

Yvonne Chisnall, Jenny Aitken, and her sister Lynn Hamilton strapped into Rotorua’s famous Sky Swing for what they thought would be a fun, scream-and-it’s-over kinda ride.

Instead, it was all full-blown panic from the second they started getting hoisted 50 metres into the air.

“I’m sh***ing myself already,” one of them shouted, which pretty much set the tone for the rest of the activity as they nervously cracked up and clung onto any railing they could find until they were white-knuckled.

Once they reached the top, the trio were told to yank the release rope to send them flying - but the rope wasn't budging one bit. Despite yanking it with all their power (and a few screams for help), still, nothing happened.

“Pull it with two hands” an operator yelled from below. Eventually, Yvonne fully committed, let go of her seat and gave the rope a rip so hard it FINALLY triggered the swing.

The video has since gone extremely viral, with thousands of comments of Kiwis who can't get enough of this trio.

“Tourism NZ is sleeping on this as an advert, for classic New Zealanders having fun😂,” one person wrote.

“This is the best video I have ever seen,” said another.

A third added: “This was the best reaction to the slingshot I've seen. Bet these nans have a blast anywhere they go.”

Whether they were actually stuck or just needed a little more grunt is unclear.

Either way, it’s easily one of the best videos on the internet right now. You just can’t beat that classic NZ humour, aye?
