If there's one thing you're going to see all over social media this week, it's the chair challenge.
After going viral on Tik Tok, the challenge blew people's minds for how simple, yet challenging it is for some (i.e men).
Here's how you do it:
Stand against a wall
step two feet back by putting your feet directly behind each other
lean forward, putting your head against the wall at 90 degrees
slide a chair underneath you and lift it up to your chest
stand up without moving your feet
Simple, right?
Simple, right?
Well, in the dozen of attempts, women have been able to do it easily while the majority of men have been seriously struggling to complete the challenge.
After watching the attempts we didn't understand how it could be so hard to just simply stand up.
So trying it out for ourselves, we made Dom, Meg and Randell give the challenge a go. After a couple attempts, Meg was able to stand up while Randell (must to his disappointment) could not to it at all.
Dom on the other hand was the exception as he smashed it on the first try.
According to US scientist Jeremy Johnson, there's a logical reason as to why some men just can't get it up (sorry, the chair, can't get the chair up).
"Interestingly enough, many girls can successfully complete this challenge, while most boys cannot.
"Why? Again, it's all about the centre of mass.
"The centre of mass for most girls is lower to the hips, while the centre of mass in boys is much higher.
"Therefore, for most girls, the centre of mass while bent over the chair is above their feet, while the centre of mass for most boys is above the chair."
