If you needed a little mid-week pick me up, this waiata might just do the trick.
A recent video posted by popular Instagram and Facebook page Hahana has racked up nearly half a million views - and for good reason.
Titahi Ki Tua (AUT Māori Students’ Association) were filmed performing the waiata’ Tōku Reo Tōku Ohooho’ during a 21st birthday celebration at Aotearoa Pā Marae in Okaiawa.
The stunning clip was captured the beautiful harmonies of the group who effortlessly belted the track.
At one point, the guitar drops out and the group claps in unison, giving instant goosebumps.
The waiata wraps with a powerful solo from one of the wāhine, finishing strong.
The comment section is full of aroha and praise for the performance, with one person writing: “Definitely becoming a national anthem. Tino ātaahua te waiata. I love hearing it. Lifts the wairua. He Pākehā au,” one viewer shared.
“Beautifully done whānau - the most amazing and powerful version I’ve ever heard. Absolutely fantastic!! 🥰🤩,” another Facebook commenter said.
A third added: “Goes straight to the heart! Tino ātaahua!!!”
It’s not the first time this waiata has gone viral - versions of it have been popping up all over TikTok and social feeds over the past year, with more and more people learning and sharing it.
Last year, the Black Ferns squad even performed the waiata during a press conference.
While most would expect the rugby team to be somewhat off-key, The Blacks Ferns shocked everyone with their powerful pipes.
Honestly, with the way this waiata can lift the mood, it's easy to see why it’s constantly going viral.
