A woman ended up in A&E, after swallowing her mate’s house-key on a night out at the pub - all because she really, really did not want the night to end.
35-year-old Siobhan Stanton from Edinburgh and her pal Adele, also 35, were at their local pub when Adele made the fatal mistake of suggesting they wrap up the evening and head home.
But we’ve all got that mate who’s not ready to call it a night yet - and on this particular evening, that mate happened to be Siobhan.
"It was nearly the end of the night and I was standing at the pub door with my key in my hand,” Adele said, according to The Sun.
"I said to [Siobhan] 'I'm going home now' and she was asking me to stay out longer.
"I kept saying no then she just grabbed my key and swallowed it.”
Yup, Siobhan apparently decided to swallow her problem, literally. Straight up just snatched the key and downed it like a raw tequila shot.
At that moment, Adele thought her mate was just winding her up, thinking she had “pretended to swallow it and had it hidden behind her back.”
But nope, Siobhan had genuinely swallowed the tiny metal ticket to Adele’s front door.

"So then I couldn't go home as my mum was night shift at work so I had to phone her at work and tell her what happened, she thought I was winding her up too.”
The next day - likely in an inevitable dusty ‘did I actually eat a key last night?’ moment - the pair decided to take a trip to the A&E just to make sure the key wasn’t about to unlock something important… like, I dunno, internal bleeding.
According to The Sun, doctors carried out an x-ray which revealed the key was logged in Siobhan’s large intestine. Luckily, she was told there wasn’t any risk and the key would simply pass naturally, which it did 5 days later.
“She asked if I wanted my key back but I said no thanks I will get a new key cut,” says Adele, adding, “me and her always have the funniest nights out, we have been in some funny situations.”

The ordeal - which actually happened back in 2017 but recently went viral after Adele made a TikTok about it - has people cackling in the comments.
“‘Sorry. Can’t come home, she’s swallowed the key’ most believable story 😂” wrote one person.
“This will never not be funny 😂😂😂😂😂” wrote another.
“My kinda friend,” wrote a third.
