Jay-Jay Feeney announces she's leaving More FM

After an amazing 33 years, Jay-Jay has chosen to take a break from radio

Our brilliant friend, amazing colleague, and legendary broadcaster Jay-Jay Feeney is hanging up her headphones.

Jay-Jay announced on air on More FM Drive today that after 33 years, she's taking a step away from More FM and radio, an industry she says she's "literally grown up on".

"When you have four hours to fill, you end up having to talk about all the stuff going on in your life!"

But Jay-Jay has decided, on Friday July 5, it will be her last show.

"33 years is a long time, and I am tired. I'm low on fresh, creative ideas, and basically, I just need a big rest."

"The one thing I've learned as I've got older, is how important mental health and clarity is. It's time I actually listened to what my inner-self has been screaming at me for a while and slow down."

Jay-Jay first started her career at the age of 17 on Energy FM in New Plymouth, and was previously a long-time broadcaster on sister station The Edge, before moving to More FM in 2018 to present the drive show with "with my favourite co-host ever, Flynny."

"I have had the most incredible time, doing amazing things, crazy things, meeting celebs, meeting cool people, connecting with radio listeners and sharing myself with the nation."

After a good holiday break in Bali, Jay-Jay admits she isn't sure what she's doing next.

"I have a few thoughts and ideas, but I'm yet to decide what will be my next 'thing'."

"When I come back I will spend a bit more time finding myself again. I will keep you up to date regularly, so this isn't the end of me. It's just the end of me on the radio for now."

Our More FM family is so thankful for the great laughs, big tears and continued honesty Jay-Jay has shared with us over the years and we will be cheering her from the sidelines with whatever she does next.

Jay-Jay & Flynny's last show together will be Friday 5th July. From July 22, Flynny will be back with our good friend Sarah Gandy, with Sarah & Flynny Driving You Home.
