Whittaker's haven't revealed their 'secret' new flavour, but Kiwis have already found it

Can't get anything past these chocolate lovers.

Whittaker’s is yet to officially announce their new limited edition flavour - but some Kiwi sleuths have already cracked the case.

There’s still no sign of it on Whittaker’s website or socials, but one Reddit user has posted a snap of two blocks.

Wrapped in shiny gold and covered in tiny bananas, the label reads “Banana and Caramel”, giving serious Banoffee vibes, and people are understandably losing it.

“WTF, is this for real? If this is AI, I’m going to have a mental breakdown, I swear,” one person wrote, while another speculated, “This looks like a print sample mockup?”

A Wellington local jumped in to seemingly confirm its legitimacy, writing: “For those asking, I found this at a store in Welly. I’m not gonna name the shop - pretty sure they weren’t meant to put it out yet.”

And while there’s still radio silence from Whittaker’s HQ, as of 8am on July 9, the brand did update their profile picture on Facebook and Instagram, swapping in a portrait of James Henry Whittaker (the founder of the choccy) munching on a banana.

Meanwhile, Four Square in Moturoa seems to have already had its delivery, also sharing a snap of the packaging, writing: “Brand new to the shelves Whittaker’s Banana caramel chocolate yummm!”

And to top it off, someone in the Reddit thread pointed out ‘Seven Sharp’ recently teased a “new Whittaker’s flavour

Host Daniel Faitaua visited the Whittaker's Chocolate factory, where he got to try a new ‘trial product’. He gave it his best shot at guessing the flavour, but with no help from his taste buds, he had to be told what it was.

“Sorry, chocolate lovers, I have been sworn to secrecy, but the wait will be worth it”

Fans of the iconic banana and caramel combo need no convincing. “I could eat one of these blocks in one go like a sandwich,” one person said in the Reddit thread.

Another asked the question we’re all wondering: “Any good?” to which the original poster replied: “I’m a massive banoffee fan, so yes.”

Well, I guess it’s now a waiting game to see when and where it’ll be hitting shelves near you.
