Prime Minister-elect Chris Luxon reveals what groceries he actually buys with $60 a week

' I was like, 'Damn is my bro just eating rice?'

Prime Minister-elect Christopher made headlines around the country last week after saying he spends $60 weekly on groceries.

With grocery prices skyrocketing, like all of us, Tegan was real curious about what, how and where is he getting groceries for $60, so she asked the big question.

Sis even challenged herself to do her grocery shopping with $60, but she ended up paying $80!

"What do you spend with the 60 bucks?" Tegs asked Christopher Luxon.

"The question I was asked was, 'what do you spend at the supermarket each week'? Right. The point is that I spend a big part of the week actually in Wellington away from my family because I live in Auckland. And so what I meant was every when I arrive in Wellington, I go to the supermarket."

"People are quite surprised I do," he added.

"But I go off and I just buy my breakfast stuff. So usually it's some Weet-bix and some oats."

"I didn't probably answer what I spend on food obviously but I answered the question very rationally thinking that's what I've been asked".

Tegan said," I was like, 'Damn is my bro just eating rice?' cracking everyone up including Chris.

So basically it wasn't his actual grocery - no wonder! It's sad how many of us feel that it's impossible to get groceries for $60 cause everything is so expensive.

Anyways, the Prime Minister-elect spends that $60 when he goes down to Wellington and buys all the kai he needs for breakfast from New World.
