The Dunedin-born legends of Kiwi music are back with their fifth studio album - and it’s Six60 exactly how we wanna hear them… LIVE.
'Right Here Right Now' is officially on the way, but fans are already being treated to two brand new singles, ‘Knocking at Your Door’ and ‘We Are All Kings’.
These latest tracks will feature the raw, rootsy energy that first put the band on the map - and honestly, if there’s one thing we Kiwis will never say no to, it’s a bit of nostalgia.
You can’t call yourself a Kiwi if you haven’t seen Six60 live at least once. So instead of going to them, they’re bringing the live recordings to you.
The album has been recorded entirely live, with every track captured in a single take, making it Six60’s most unfiltered and authentic work yet.
Back in December, the guys joined MoreFm’s Breakfast Club to perform the first single off ‘Right Here Right Now’ titled ‘We Made It’. If this is a taste of what’s to come, it’s gonna be one of their greats!
Other songs set to feature include ‘Endlessly’ and ‘Hurricane’ - reggae, pop fusions that feel made for summer roadies, backyard BBQs, or just turning up the volume and having a groove.
Lead singer Matiu Walters says, “We are at the top of our game, and I feel like I was born to sing these songs! Pure, real and heartfelt. Six60 at its best.”
“Recorded in only 3 days, the process was old school. Full band, single takes. We are returning to our roots music origins, and the music feels natural, uncomplicated, and relatable,” he added.
Four chords and the truth.
According to the band, the album reflects a group that’s comfortable in their skin, still evolving, and still deeply connected to the people who’ve grown alongside them.
It’s shaping up to be a massive year for Six60, too. With the opening of Christchurch’s One NZ Stadium, the band will headline the 'Once In A Lifetime' gig, alongside fellow Kiwi faves Synthony, with special guests Kaylee Bell, Cassie Henderson and Castaway.
And come March 14th, they'll headline Homegrown 2026, which they told rova they were absolutely fizzing for - not just to take the stage at the festival's new home at Claudelands Arena in Hamilton, but to hang with all the Kiwi musos they "know quite well but never get to see".
There’s a heck of a lot coming up for these lads, and we’ll be watching every move as ‘Right Here Right Now’ rolls out from February 13.
