If you needed a sign that summer has officially arrived, Six60's just delivered it with a bit of new music.
The biggest band in NZ dropped their new single 'We Made It' today, and you're about to hear it at every BBQ, pub and beach speaker you come across for the next three months.
It’s classic Six60 - that recognisable blend of pop, reggae, and good-vibes attitude - but with reflective lyrics that fits perfectly with December energy. You know the vibe: you’ve survived the year, you’ve done your best, and now you’re allowed to breathe out for a second.
"Oooh, I know it’s been a bumpy road/Keep thinking there’s so far to go," the lyrics read.
"But take a look around, it's amazing/If we made it here, then we made it."
'We Made It' leans into that feeling we're all gearing up for in our final weeks of work - you've survived the year, done your best, and now you get to kick back and enjoy things for a minute.
The release follows the band’s performance 'On The Steps' of the Sydney Opera House yesterday - their biggest Ausie show to date.
Matiu and the lads also announced they'll be teaming up with Synthony for 'Once In A Lifetime', the first live concert at Christchurch's brand new One New Zealand Stadium.
And come March 14th, they'll headline Homegrown 2026, which they told rova they were absolutely fizzing for - not just to take the stage at the festival's new home at Claudelands Arena in Hamilton, but to hang with all the Kiwi musos they "know quite well but never get to see".
Chris Mac admitted to one time "stealing some of Dave Dobbyn's rider" which ended with him getting a front row seat to Dobbyn and Peter Urlich, recalling how, as Th' Dudes, they wrote one of this country's most iconic anthems, 'Bliss'.
"I videoed the whole conversation. It's on my phone," Chris revealed.
I don't know about you guys, but all this talk of vibey tunes, gigs and getting to the end of the year has me keen to chuck the chilly bin in the back of the car and head for the beach.
