Harry Styles has revealed he was once advised to "pee on" himself to get through a marathon race.

The 'Aperture' singer explained why the unusual suggestion wasn't an insult, telling Brittany Broski's 'Royal Court' he was instructed to urinate freely to save time while running a marathon.

However, Harry said, he hadn't needed to take the advice when he successfully ran the Tokyo and Berlin marathons.

"You know what? I actually didn't need to pee, really, either of them," the former One Direction singer, 32, recalled.

I had a lot of people tell me that I should - that I was going to pee on myself and that I should, like, practice peeing on myself.

By the end of his training in the lead-up to each event, the 'Watermelon Sugar' crooner told the YouTube series, he hadn't had the urge and contemplated going for a short run just to practice.

"I got to like, the end of the training and I thought, 'I don't have any long runs left, and I don't know that I can go run for like 10 minutes just to pee on myself,'" he quipped. "So I actually never practised peeing on myself."

Elsewhere, Harry - who was promoting his new album 'Kiss All the Time. Disco, Occasionally' - shared he had recently adopted a new nighttime skincare and dental hygiene routine.

"I've just started washing my face. I've just got an electric toothbrush," he said, before comparing his new brush to an electric guitar.

"I used to be acoustic. I was acoustic for a long time, and I've just gone electric - feel like Bob Dylan."
