'Manifest!': Kiwi singer Ella Monnery campaigns to open for Zara Larsson in NZ

Overlaid in a circular frame is a brown-haired woman with an open mouth, appearing to speak, in an indoor setting with a chandelier visible.

It's been a huge time for big artists hitting New Zealand, and while we’re still recovering from the ticket wars, one Kiwi singer has her sights set on one show in particular - Zara Larsson.

Ella Monnery isn’t just keen to attend the gig, she’s got her sights set on being on stage for the Swedish pop artist’s NZ shows.

ICYMI - Zara is headed to our shores for two EPIC nights at Auckland's Spark Arena. After quickly selling out her first scheduled show on October 25th, a second show has been added for the 26th - and tickets are on sale NOW!

“I REAAALLY want to open for her,” Ella said in an Instagram video.

She introduced herself in a pitch to Zara, explaining that she’s been working in the Aotearoa music scene for nine years and that she’s already experienced singing for a bunch of New Zealand artists, DJ tracks and performing at a whole bunch of big festivals.

I mean, her list is impressive - we’re talking about SACHI, Synthony, Rhythm and Vines, Jim Beam Homegrown, Electric Avenue, Rhythm and Alps, Mardi Gras, and so many more!

“In the last year or so, I decided to stop singing for other people and decided to start singing for myself,” Ella added.

She shared her love for Zara, adding that she had already covered her song ‘Symphony’ during her semi-finals performance on ‘The Voice AU’ back in 2021.

“I’m putting my faith in the internet,” she ended the video, asking fans to help her gain the ‘Midnight Sun’ singer's attention.

And trust a group of Kiwi fans to rally behind one of our own.

“@zaralarsson, miss girl, please get our chooky to open for you !!!!!! We beg!!!!!!!” Mai FM host Tegan Yorworth wrote.

“You know what to do, sis @zaralarsson,” George Fm’s Sin Howard added.

Fellow Kiwi artist Paige Tapara said: “@livenationaotearoa cmon fellas, we’ve made this happen before 👀👀👀👀.”

AND SHE DID! Back in 2023, Paige started an online campaign that caught the attention of Joe Jonas, ahead of his Jonas Brothers show in May of 2024.

After months of convincing the Jo-bro via TikTok and Instagram posts, her dream became a reality.

She got to duet the iconic ‘Camp Rock’ track ‘This Is Me’, and we backed her all the way!!

It’s been done once, and we’re keen to see history repeat itself.

This won’t be the last time we talk about Ella’s big opening gig - mark my words!
