Reflecting on his achievement, Simon described it as "pretty humbling," noting, "to hear sort of your name being read out in that situation, it's quite surreal."

The Alan Baldry Award is given annually to a member of the Society of Sheep + Beef Cattle Veterinarians of New Zealand who have made a significant contribution to the country's sheep and cattle industry.

Senior Vet at Dannevirke Vet Services Simon Marshall, who took out this year's award, talks to Dom about his journey from starting in veterinary medicine in 2001 to his current efforts in advancing farming solutions.

He discusses critical industry challenges such as triple drench resistance, staffing shortages, the importance of support networks and more.
