Ozzy Osbourne announces ‘Last Rites’ memoir to reflect on turbulent career and health

“People say to me… would you change anything? F*ck no.”

He has been in the headlines quite a bit this week for his triumphant Back to the Beginning show, but in the headline’s he’ll stay - this time for a different reason.

Ozzy Osbourne has officially announced that later this year his memoir, titled ‘Last Rites’, will be released.

The memoir, to go out October 7th, is described in an announcement as “the shocking, bitterly hilarious, never-before-told story of Osbourne’s descent into hell”.

The Prince of Darkness goes into detail about his several health issues, including when he “faced near-total paralysis from the neck down” and his 2020 Parkinson’s diagnosis.

The memoir also speaks to his “turbulent marriage” with wife + manager Sharon, his preparations for the mammoth Back to the Beginning concert, and other aspects of his life, Loudwire reports.

We’ll get to enjoy stories from the perspective of Bon Scott, John Bonham and Keith Moon, and Ozzy’s final moments with Motörhead’s Lemmy Kilmister, who passed away in 2015.

“People say to me, if you could do it all again, knowing what you know now, would you change anything?” Ozzy is quoted to have written.

His answer?

I’m like, fuck no.

He continues with: “If I’d been clean and sober, I wouldn’t be Ozzy. If I’d done normal, sensible things, I wouldn’t be Ozzy.

Look, if it ends tomorrow, I can’t complain. I’ve been all around the world. Seen a lot of things. I’ve done good… and I’ve done bad. But right now, I’m not ready to go anywhere.”

It isn’t the first time Ozzy’s put pen to paper, releasing ‘I am Ozzy’ in 2010, then ‘Trust Me, I’m Dr Ozzy: Advice from Rock’s Ultimate Survivor” in 2011.

What  can’t this guy do? Singer, songwriter, media personality, painter, author… What else?

I’ll tell you what else, there’s a biopic for his life in the works, rumoured to be released “maybe by the summer of 2027”.

‘Last Rites’ is available for pre-order now - safe to say I’ll be getting my mitts on one of these bad boys.
