A ‘raw’ movie biopic about Ozzy Osbourne’s legendary career and life is currently in the works, with a potential release date of 2027.
The biopic has been talked about for a few years now, with Sharon initially talking about it in 2021. Since then, we’ve heard bits and pieces about the film, but it’s now confirmed that the script is written and a director is locked in.
Speaking backstage at Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath’s Back to the Beginning gig, Ozzy’s son Jack revealed there’s “a lot of good momentum on the Ozzy biopic.”
“We have a director attached now, and the script is done, and Sony Studios is going to be producing it. It is about to go through a script rewrite.
“It's going to be raw. We are not pulling any punches, we are really laying it all out."
Speaking to Bizzare, Jack also said, “The director is absolutely phenomenal. I can't say who he is, but we are very lucky to have him and he is a die-hard fan.
"If the evil overlords of Hollywood give us the green light, we could be filming in the spring, so maybe it will be out by the summer of 2027."
When Sharon talked about the biopic last year, she said the film would also focus on her and Ozzy’s relationship, but it’s unclear if the film has pivoted direction to focus more on Ozzy.
Speaking about the actors that they'd like to see play themselves, Sharon's keen for "Florence Pugh or the little girl from Game of Thrones (Maisie Williams)." As for Ozzy, Jack reckons Bill Hader would play him well.
Films obviously take a while to make, and speaking about the project coming along rather slowly, Ozzy said in 2024, “By the time it's eventually filmed, I'll be dead! I wanna be alive to fkn see it.”
This will definitely be one to keep our eyes out for.
