Saint Lawrence gives all he has, both to the poor and to God. In acts of service and bold witness under threat, Lawrence teaches a bold faith paired with charity. Sixtus also leads with quiet wisdom and perseverance; and Philip, a ‘rich young man,’ sacrifices everything with generosity.
This series contains moments of danger and intensity, including raised voices. It depicts forced participation in pagan rituals, unjust imprisonment, the torture of a Christian convert, and the martyrdom of clergy. One man has his eyes removed before later regaining sight. Lawrence is executed, as is recorded historically, by being burned on a gridiron. While restraint is used in the representation of the moment, parents may want to screen the last few moments of episode 5 before sharing with younger listeners.
