Yungblud, the chaos merchant of modern alt-rock, has snagged three nominations for the upcoming 2026 Grammys.
His hat trick of nods includes Best Rock Performance with his rendition of ‘Changes’ at the Back to the Beginning concert, Best Rock Song for his song ‘Zombie’, and Best Rock Album for his latest record, Idols.
If you’ve been living under a rock, instead of FOR it, then it’s only right we take a look at Yungblud’s performance of Changes:
Yungblud called this performance “one of the biggest moments of my life.”
“I got to stand on stage and honour one of my heroes and the fact that it has touched so many is truly overwhelming.”
Yungblud has since released the song as a single, and for him, it serves as a tribute to his true idol, Ozzy Osbourne.
It’s gone so mad it shot to #7 in this year’s Rock 2000 - in its debut year!
There is no doubt this one will be a serious frontrunner.
Zombie, released in May as the third single from Idols, is a gut-punch of a song, so no wonder it got nominated for Best Rock Song, amongst great company.
This ballad is not about monsters or metaphors. It’s about nurses.
“This song is about ‘would someone really love you at your worst’, and how so many of us don’t want to reach out for help when we’re at our worst because we’re so afraid,” said Yungblud on describing the meaning of this tune. “Who was it that really saw us at our absolute worst and loves us unconditionally? Nurses!”
The ones who are overworked, underpaid, and somehow still keep us alive.
The music video, featuring Florence Pugh, doubles down on that message - a haunting, cinematic love letter to the emotional toll of care work. It invites empathy and recognition for those who keep showing up, even when they feel like “zombies”.
Finally, there’s Idols, nominated for ‘Best Rock Album’ - his fourth studio album, created over four years in the town of Leeds, close to where Yungblud grew up.
It’s not an homage, not a throwback, not even an attempt to please anyone. It’s Yungblud stepping out from behind the noise, the influences, and the chaos to look in the mirror for once.
“It's actually the first time in my life that I’m turning away from my idols,” Yungblud said about this album.
“I wanted to write this album about looking at a photograph on a wall, wanting to become the photograph on the wall… for some people, even becoming the photograph on the wall that they look at, and then realising that the photograph on the wall never had any answers.”
While Yungblud acknowledges that we all have Idols we look up to, it’s important to take credit for all the things you achieve. He believes we are more powerful than we believe, and that we “give too much credit to people that we don’t even know and we never met”.
For Yungblud, it means the world to have been nominated, and he has given all the credit to Ozzy Osbourne, thanking him for the opportunities to shine.
“Thank you to you and your family for giving me the opportunity you did and your stage to show the world what I could do. Thank you for teaching us all how to dream and never compromise.
From one madman from England to another, I love you OZ, and I hope one day I can show you how much.”
