A long-discussed Slipknot side project is finally seeing the light of day, with ‘Look Outside Your Window’ confirmed for release as part of Record Store Day on April 18.

Importantly, it is not being released under the band name. Instead, the record is credited to Look Outside Your Window, reflecting the project’s original intention as something separate from the band’s core catalogue.

The announcement confirms that Slipknot members Corey Taylor, Jim Root, Sid Wilson, and Shawn ‘Clown’ Crahan came up with these records in their “downtime during recording sessions for Slipknot's 2008 album All Hope Is Gone.”

They “began to freely create songs for themselves, exploring new directions with no outside expectations.”

“Over the years, the existence of this project has seen coverage in outlets including Vice, Revolver, NME, Kerrang!, and countless others, and the fans have only grown louder in their demand to hear this album,” the announcement reads. Now, over 15 years later, the fans will finally get to experience it for themselves.

Splatter vinyl with a die-cut jacket, purple foil on the front of the jacket, purple flood inside the jacket, and embossed text on the back of the jacket.”

Now officially listed on the Record Store Day “big list”, the release is confirmed as a limited pressing of 2,300 copies worldwide.

Following the announcement, fans sprinted to the Slipknot subreddit, reacting with all sorts of emotions.

“No way. Is this legit?” said one fan.

“Bout time,” was another.

“We got Look Outside Your Window before GTA 6,” may have been the best comment.

For collectors and longtime followers of the band, it marks the first official release of a project that has been talked about for more than 15 years.
