Roger Waters has doubled down on the controversial comments he made about Ozzy Osbourne, stating he has no regrets and no intention of apologising.
Waters appeared on Piers Morgan Uncensored, where he was asked about the remarks he made following The Prince of Darkness’ death.
In an interview with The Independent Ink, he criticised Ozzy for what he described as bringing “hundreds of years” of “idiocy and nonsense” into rock culture.
He also dismissed Ozzy’s music: “The music, I have no idea, I couldn't give a f*ck. I don't care about Black Sabbath, I never did, I have no interest in… ‘Wahhhh!!!’ and biting the heads off chickens or whatever they do. I couldn't care less.”
Addressing those comments with Morgan, Waters acknowledged making them but defended his position.
“Those comments, I’m not denying that I said them, came in the middle of a long interview,” he said. “Do I have to like every rock group there ever was in the world or people who bite the heads off bats?”
Waters showed no remorse for the Osbourne family and showed no intention of issuing an apology to them.
He said he had no time for Sharon Osbourne because he claimed she is a “raging zionist”.
Waters doubled down by adding he doesn’t want to apologise to Jack: “If he wants to have a chat, I'll have a chat with him. And I won't be nasty to him."
Waters continued: "I'm sorry you lost your dad, Jack. But you have conversations about things and about people and what you think. I was honest, I said I didn’t like Black Sabbath. I’ve listened to some of it since, and the music is perfectly kind of acceptable. It was all a kind of histrionics. I don't like people who bite the heads off bats. I just don't. I think it's disgusting.”
Following Waters’ original comments, Jack Osbourne responded publicly, writing: “Hey @rogerwaters, f*ck you. How pathetic and out of touch you’ve become. The only way you seem to get attention these days is by vomiting out bullshit in the press.
My father always thought you were a c**t - thanks for proving him right.
The feud between the Osbournes and Waters heightened when Ozzy Osbourne’s official merchandise store released a limited edition shirt that took a jab at Waters.
When asked one final time if he regretted his remarks, Waters said: “I regret nothing in life, except that I haven’t been more successful in getting people to understand how important it is that we as a human race recognise and empathise with all our brothers and sisters all over the world.”
Well, I guess we all just sit tight and wait for the explosive rebuttal, shall we?
