Rod Stewart is raising eyebrows for his unusual Ozzy Osbourne tribute using AI imagery along with other dead musicians.
The ‘Forever Young’ singer has been dedicating the song to the late Black Sabbath legend during recent concerts – but it’s not the song choice that’s got people talking… It’s the full-on AI slideshow happening behind him.
At last month's show in Charlotte, North Carolina, a scarily accurate-looking AI-generated Ozzy was seen floating around heaven, snapping selfies with other iconic artists who have passed.
Fan footage shows just some of the cameos, including Tina Turner, Michael Jackson, Prince, Freddie Mercury, Tupac, Kurt Cobain and Amy Winehouse.
“Very sad. A lot of those people died ’cause of drugs,” Stewart reportedly said to the crowd, referring to the images.
“I’m still here, though,” he added.
The fan who shared the video on Instagram wrote: “Yes, the rumours are true: I went to a Rod Stewart concert last night (lol) and witnessed man-made horrors beyond my comprehension.”
Fans were left baffled, taking to social media to share their thoughts on the wild and slightly unhinged tribute.
One wrote: "Rod Stewart really thought this was a brilliant idea. 😑“
“This is a crime that should be prosecuted to the fullest extent,” said another.
A third added: “As clever as this is, it just doesn't sit right... Personally, I don't like it 😢."
Others thought the tribute was fitting to their legacies.
“What is disrespectful about it? I think it’s done with great respect,” someone said. “All the other legends that went before him, people are weird.”
“I think this is great!! I see NO disrespect.......only people that have passed on and are enjoying each other again,” another added.
“It's great to see smiling faces of people who have left us and gone to a better place!!!”
Ozzy passed away on July 22, aged 76.
