As we all mourn the Prince of Darkness following the devastating news of his death this morning, moving tributes from his fellow rock musicians are pouring in.
"It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning," the Osbourne family shared in a statement.
“He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time.”
As the world begins to fathom the loss of the legendary rocker, those he worked with, influenced and had close friendships with are paying homage to an icon.
Black Sabbath
Ozzy’s band Black Sabbath, who he reunited with onstage earlier this month, shared a photo of Ozzy from Back to the Beginning, along with the caption ‘Ozzy Forever.’
Metallica
Metallica shared a photo of their young selves alongside Ozzy, unable to express more than a heartbroken emoji as they processed the news.
Yungblud
The young rockstar who was close mates with Ozzy, and performed a stand-out rendition of ‘Changes’ at Back to the Beginning, shared a statement, saying he is “truly heartbroken.”
“I didn’t think you would leave so soon the last time we met you were so full of life and your laugh filled up the room. But as it is written with legends, they seem to know the things that we don’t.
“I will never forget you - you will be in every single note I sing and with me every single time I walk on stage.”
Speaking about the cross necklace that Ozzy gifted him, he wrote: “Your cross around my neck is the most precious thing I own.”
Pantera
Also sharing a photo of Ozzy from the recent Back to the Beginning concert, Pantera took to social media to thank him for “all that he did for metal and Pantera.”
“We wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for you.”
Mike McCready (Pearl Jam)
Mike McCready posted a tribute to Ozzy, penning what Ozzy and Sabbath mean to him.
"When I was in high school I discovered Sabbath. “War Pigs” was terrifying and mesmerizing at the same time. It was Ozzy’s voice that took me away to a dark universe. A great escape," he wrote.
Tom Morello (Rage Against The Machine)
Rage Against the Machine’s Tom Morello, who was the musical director for Sabbath and Ozzy’s farewell gig, wrote, “God bless you Ozzy.”

Musician and Eddie Van Halen’s son Wolfgang shared his thanks for Ozzy, writing: “Legend. Thank you for everything, Ozzy 🖤”

The Greenday frontman wrote what a lot of us are thinking, “No words. We love you Ozzy.”

“I’m in complete shock to learn of Ozzy’s passing today… unreal that we were all making music and laughing together with him just two weeks ago,” wrote the ex-Megadeth member, before sharing his condolences with the Ozbourne family.
