Three members of Black Sabbath have just offered a glimpse into rehearsals for their upcoming Back to the Beginning reunion and farewell gig.
A new photo shared to the band’s official Instagram features frontman Ozzy Osbourne, bassist Geezer Butler, and original drummer Bill Ward, all smiling as they sit together on a couch together.
They shared the image alongside the caption: “Rehearsals are underway for Back to the Beginning: Ozzy's Final Bow,” confirming preparations are in full swing for the gig, which features a mammoth line-up.
Guitarist Tony Iommi is the only band member not in the photo - but judging by the candid, kinda-blurry photo, there’s a good chance he could be the one behind the camera.
The upcoming gig, which is all happening on July 5th at Birmingham’s Villa Park, marks both a reunion and a farewell by bringing the iconic heavy metal band back together for one final bow.
In other Back to the Beginning news, promoter of the tour and producer Andy Copping recently revealed to Planet Rock that fans can expect “two or three” surprise acts to join the line-up at the gig.
“There are a couple of acts that have confirmed but haven’t been announced yet, so they’ll be part of the proceedings,” he told Planet Rock. “There’s still one or two that have kind of popped their head up literally in the last week saying they would like to be part of the event. So we’re talking about how we can fit those into the schedule.”
He also revealed that Villa Park is set to have a revolving stage to “keep the show flowing really smoothly.”
“The event itself is going to be very fluid. We’ve got a revolving stage so when somebody is playing, we’re gonna be building up the back line and everything for the act after that. ” he said.
How good.
Don’t forget - the show is all set to be live streamed so fans around the world don’t miss the action. You can grab your ticket for the live stream on Black Sabbath’s official website.
