Ozzy Osbourne’s cause of death revealed

Ozzy’s daughter Aimee recently filed his death certificate.

The cause of death has been revealed for the late, great Ozzy Osbourne.

A death certificate reveals the heavy metal legend died of a heart attack on July 22 2025, at the age of 76, according to The New York Times.

The certificate, which was filed in London by Ozzy’s daughter Aimee, listed cardiac arrest and coronary artery disease as causes, and noted that he had Parkinson’s disease, which many fans will be aware he’d battled with since 2020.

The certificate says Ozzy specifically died of “(a) Out of hospital cardiac arrest (b) Acute myocardial infarction (c) Coronary artery disease and Parkinson’s disease with autonomic dysfunction (Joint Causes).”

An air ambulance was dispatched to Ozzy’s Buckinghamshire estate during the morning of his final day, and health professionals spent two hours treating the singer at the hospital before he passed away surrounded by his family, The Daily Mail reports.

But what really matters is not how Ozzy passed away, but how he lived his life

The Prince of Darkness was never just a nickname - it was a badge of honour for a man who defined heavy metal, was loved by many, and somehow outlived half the people who said he wouldn't make it past 30.

From fronting Black Sabbath in the ‘70s, to his solo career packed with iconic hits like Crazy Train and Mr Crowley, Ozzy was a true pioneer of the genre.

But he was much more than just his music. His onstage antics were widely talked about, while his off-stage honesty about addiction, mental health and family made him an unlikely relatable figure.

In later years, Ozzy became a beloved TV dad as well as a metal icon, thanks to The Osbournes, the reality show that introduced a whole new generation to the chaos and charm of life with Ozzy, Sharon, and their family.

Despite his health struggles in recent years - including his Parkinson’s diagnosis - Ozzy never lost his sense of humour, his spirit, or his love for being onstage. He continued recording new music up until last year, and was onstage in front of 40,000 fans and a global audience of millions just last month (July 6) at his final performance.

Ozzy was laid to rest near a lake on his family property earlier this month, in a private funeral service with close friends and family.

Rest in Peace, Ozzy Osbourne. We bloody love you.
