Jack Osbourne has shared an update on the long-awaited Ozzy Osbourne biopic, confirming the film has officially locked in an actor to play his late-great dad. And by the sound of it, they’re pretty bloody happy with the choice.
Speaking on SiriusXM with Ozzy’s longtime mate Billy Morrison, Jack said the project is finally charging ahead after years in development with Sony.
“We are in full steam in the next phase of development with this movie. That's an acted movie that we've been developing with Sony studios for, like, six years already,” Jack said.
When asked who’ll be playing Ozzy, Jack stayed tight-lipped but made it clear they’ve landed someone special. “We have our decided pick, and I can't say anything, but it's a phenomenal, phenomenal actor. We have a director attached, and we're doing a rewrite right now.”
Jack also shared how Ozzy himself reacted to hearing updates about the film before his passing. According to Jack, the Prince of Darkness wasn’t overly fussed about the Hollywood details.
“All he kept saying, I’d give him updates, ‘Oh, we met with this guy’, and ‘this is happening’. And he just would go, ‘I don't give a shit. Just tell me when it's out so I can go see it.’”
Backstage at Black Sabbath and Ozzy Osbourne’s Back to the Beginning concert in July 2025, Jack previously said the film isn’t going to sugar-coat anything.
“It’s going to be raw. We are not pulling any punches, we are really laying it all out,” he said, adding that the director is a die-hard fan.
If everything lines up, filming could begin around March, with a potential release around summer 2027. Still a wait, but for Ozzy fans, this one’s starting to feel very real.
