With GTA 6 locked in for a November 19, 2026 release, one Norwegian retailer has decided nine months is plenty of notice to… plan accordingly.
Electronics chain Komplett is promising a free copy of the game to anyone who gives birth on launch day.
Late last week, posters spotted around Oslo read: “GTA 6 dropping in 9 months ;)” alongside a not-so-subtle image of a messy bed, rose petals and all. The retailer later confirmed on Instagram the offer isn’t a joke.
“This is actually not nonsense,” Komplett wrote. “GTA 6 is released in 9 months (🤞) and if you have a baby on the launch date, we'll give you the game for free.”
They even described it as a “life hack”, pointing out Norwegian parental leave can stretch up to 49 weeks on full salary, or 61 weeks at 80 percent, shared between parents. In theory, perfect timing for a long-awaited Rockstar binge.
“Lol, you're not getting time to play gta 6 if you have a screaming baby at home,” wrote one Reddit user. Fair.
Another chimed in: “That baby is gonna cost alooooot more than 70 dollars...”
And then there was this absolute gem: “Haven't slept in 6 days, nipples are like bullets and I've been hit in the face with explosive diarrhea. I don't even know what my name is right now let alone how to turn on a game, but I'm sure it's good.”
Hard to argue with that.
Either way, it’s a pretty clever marketing strategy. Here’s hoping the release date actually sticks this time.
