Rockstar Games has just announced the delay of, without a doubt, the most highly anticipated game of all time, Grand Theft Auto 6.

In a post to X, the gaming giant broke the devastating news, writing: “Grand Theft Auto VI will now release on Thursday, November 19, 2026.”

“We are sorry for adding additional time to what we realise has been a long wait, but these extra months will allow us to finish the game with the level of polish you have come to expect and deserve.”

“We want to thank you again for your patience and support. While the wait is a little longer, we are incredibly excited for players to experience the sprawling state of Leonida and a return to modern-day Vice City.”

This is six months later than the expected launch date of May 26, 2026, Take-Two Interactive - the parent company of Rockstar Games - announced earlier this year.

Directly after that announcement, Rockstar released ‘Trailer 2’, which gained 137M views on YouTube alone.

After today’s Take-Two Interactive earnings call, fans were expecting news of pre-orders in time for Christmas, or even a third trailer; so, you can imagine the uproar after this update.

It’s been 12 long years since GTA 5…

It’s been all our office can talk about this morning, and the reaction on X has been the same, one fan said, “How do I explain to my boss that I already took the day off on the first date?”

Another said, “We’re never getting GTA 6.”

“We’re getting older, please stop.”

At this point, I think we’ll see The Mile High Club Skyscraper completed before the game finally drops.
