Ozzy Osbourne’s passing has hit the rock world hard - and tributes have been pouring in from all corners of the globe as artists honour the Prince of Darkness.
From metal groups to pop singers and all inbetween, musicians have been dedicating shows and pausing performances to pay their respects to the rock legend.
Pantera
Pantera have been covering Black Sabbath’s 'Planet Caravan' for years, but their performance of the song on Tuesday night hit different.
The band played a tribute video of Ozzy on the big screen, showing the many lives and wild times of his lengthy career.
Gojira
Over in Turkey, Gojira dedicated their 2005 song ‘Flying Whales’ to the rocker after finding out and announcing Ozzy's death during a show in Istanbul, Turkey.
Frontman Joe Duplantier told the crowd: “We will remember Ozzy. He might have died, but he will live forever – and we all know that.”
Alice Cooper
Alice Cooper found out about his mate’s passing just before taking the stage in Cardiff. Two hours from where Ozzy grew up, Cooper dedicated the whole show to Ozzy.
“We all know that time is going to take us rockers, but when the giants fall, it’s really hard to accept,” he said in an Instagram post. “Even though everybody saw it coming with Ozzy, it just took our breath away when it happened.”
“He earned immense respect among his peers and from fans around the world as an unmatched showman and cultural icon.”
Def Leppard
Def Leppard paused their set at Saratoga Performing Arts Centre (SPAC) to say goodbye to the Black Sabbath frontman. After a heartfelt moment from Joe Elliott, the band kicked off an acoustic version of ‘Changes’.
Coldplay
Coldplay, of all bands, gave the song a crack too. Chris Martin told a packed Nissan Stadium in Nashville that the whole show was for Ozzy, calling him “a gift to the world.”
"Ozzy, we love you, wherever you're going."
Dave Matthews
Even Dave Matthews got in on it, stripping ‘Changes’ right back in a beautiful acoustic cover.
“What a sweet, sweet dude that guy was. He will be missed,” Dave said after calling Ozzy his hero.
Ghost
Swedish Metal band Ghost turned their sold-out Madison Square Garden gig into a memorable tribute, with frontman Tobias Forge saying: “Good evening, New York City! How are you? It’s one of those days now. We’re going to dedicate tonight’s show to the memory of the life and laughter of Ozzy Osbourne.”
For being the Prince of Darkness, he sure gave us a lot of light.
That line alone got the crowd chatting: “Ozzy! Ozzy! Ozzy!”
Lady Gaga
At her ‘Mayhem Ball’ show in San Francisco, Gaga opened her jacket to reveal an Ozzy tee and led her dancers in a headbanging tribute to ‘Crazy Train’ before taking a final group bow.
Drake
Following the sad news, Drake tributed the rock music icon by walking out to the 1970 song 'Iron Man' for his 'Some Special Shows 4 U' concert held at the Utilita Arena in Birmingham on Wednesday night - Ozzy's hometown. "Hey Birmingham! Rest in peace to the legendary Ozzy Osbourne," he said before starting the show.
Drake also shared a montage of black-and-white photos via Instagram which showed him visiting the tribute bench and chatting with fans.
It’s clear Ozzy’s impact on the music world has echoed across genres.
