KJ Apa has started circulating the TikTok feeds again, and not for his latest movie 'The Map That Leads to You', but a brand new musical alter ego called Mr Fantasy.
Mr Fantasy started posting videos in August, with just him vibing to music in his car, which seemed to be the whole aesthetic of the page - jamming out to music and giving his followers a sneak peek into this new character.
The world started questioning if it was the Kiwi-born 'Riverdale' actor KJ Apa when a few people noticed his shoulder tattoo matched.
From there, the speculations started pouring in, from a new movie, a music video, to people just thinking he was losing the plot again.
But to everyone's shock, KJ Apa has finally let the world know the what, the why and the how to this very unorthodox character that is Mr Fantasy - it's NEW MUSIC!
His self-titled debut single dropped on streaming platforms this morning, with Part 1 of his music video being shared on his TikTok page.
The song is very pop 80s synth heavy with a funky upbeat summer tone, and I’m not gonna lie, it’s pretty fkn good!
“The wait is over. Here is Part 1 of my very first video for my debut single, ‘Mr. Fantasy’ I love you all,” he wrote in the caption.
“The adventure has only just begun😜😜🤪🤪🤪 many more to come!!! I love you always - MR. FANTASY … now where were we?”
The video opens with KJ, ahem, Mr. Fantasy rocking American flag jeans while staring over the Los Angeles hills, before strutting down Venice Beach boardwalk.
We even get a taste of the lyrics: “Wait a minute take it back // Why you wasting all your precious time with that babe // I know you feeling the same // I see you looking my way // … Just like a moth to a flame I see you looking my way.”
Of course, the fashion game is STRONG - but what else would you expect from a persona named Mr. Fantasy?
And fans won’t have to wait long, because Part 2 is dropping tomorrow.
It’s not KJ’s first alter ego to go viral. Back in 2021, his TikTok personality ‘Fifi’ did the rounds and even gained 2.9 million followers.
Videos on the @fifiisqueen account racked up millions of views just by dancing carefree in whatever way their body would allow.
Peep the similarities of Fifi in the new music video… I think it’s case is closed, people.
We can’t wait to see what Part 2 brings tomorrow. Until then, we’ll be jamming the track over and over to get Mr Fantasy the rise to fame he deserves.
