Metallica visit Birmingham’s Black Sabbath landmarks ahead of Back to the Beginning gig

James Hetfield and Robert Trujillo have been snapped around the city of Birmingham.

Metallica have touched down in Birmingham ahead of this weekend’s mammoth Back to the Beginning gig, and they’ve been heading around town, paying their respects to the Black Sabbath legends.

The lads took to Instagram on Tuesday night (1st July) to post a photo of bassist Rob Trujillo standing proudly in front of that epic Sabbath mural by Mr Murals on Navigation Bridge. They simply captioned it: “The kids have landed in Birmingham.”

Only a couple of days ago, Black Sabbath themselves stopped by the mural to sign it and thank the artist by gifting him tickets to the show.

Not long after, they shared another photo - this time of frontman James Hetfield throwing up the devil horns while chilling on the Black Sabbath Bench, located on the Black Sabbath Bridge.

The Back to the Beginning gig is going down at Villa Park on Saturday 5th July, just a stone’s throw from where all four original Sabbath members grew up, and the line-up is absolutely ridiculous.

You’ve got Sabbath, Ozzy, Metallica… and that’s just the start. Guns N' Roses, Slayer, Pantera, Gojira, Halestorm, Alice in Chains, Lamb of God, Tool, Rival Sons, Anthrax, Mastodon, the list goes on and on.

Someone’s just posted a photo to reddit of the first-look of the Back to the Beginning stage set up too, check it out below.
