A couple of New Zealand artists have honoured Ozzy Osbourne with a large painted mural on Auckland’s Karangahape Road.
His work shines on the side of The Rock Shop on the iconic road, where it can be seen by plenty.
“50 days ago, the world lost an absolute legend,” Walsh wrote in the caption. “Black Sabbath were my Mum’s favourite band, I grew up with their records, and it was a privilege to put this piece up for the dark king himself.”
He thanked another artist, Setayesh, for helping him paint, the Rock Shop for allowing him to create the piece and, of course, his mother for helping him choose the image for the mural.
The heavy metal legend died of a heart attack on July 22 2025, at the age of 76.
This isn’t the only mural Walsh has painted on the memorial wall in memory of famous musicians.
He’s been celebrating the lives of influential celebs since 2014. Some of his other works include Prince, David Bowie, John Lennon, Tom Petty, Brian Wilson and Martin Phillips.
His most recent work before the prince of darkness was the late Fat Freddy’s Drop legend Chris Faiumu.
Walsh told Stuff earlier this year, “If a major musician passes, I quite often get a few messages asking, ‘Is this so and so going to go on the wall?'.”
“And I love that because it's always been about the music,” he added.
After completing Faiumu’s portrait, it was only a matter of days before he began planning the Black Sabbath frontman’s mural.
For how long it will be displayed is yet to be determined, but while it’s there, plenty of rock fans can head along to take in the incredible art.
