Join Mike for the latest episode of The House of Wellness with Chemist Warehouse on the Breeze, where he sits down with actress and author Kimberley Crossman, Diabetes New Zealand CEO Heather Verry, marathon runner Ben Prince-Saxon, and resident pharmacist Piyara Perera.
Featured Guest: Kimberley Crossman
Kiwi actress, author, and podcaster Kimberley Crossman is back in New Zealand as she prepares to welcome her child. The soon-to-be mum joined Mike to chat about her mental health and wellness journey.
Kimberley opened up about her past struggles with depression and her experience of miscarriage in 2023, sharing how honesty and community helped her heal.
Diagnosed with low AMH levels, she credits the support and advice of others for her current pregnancy.
“I’ve found so much grace from people,” she explained.
“I feel like my life has pivoted in the most beautiful way, and I have such a beautiful community.”
As a Whau Foundation ambassador, Kimberley is passionate about advocating for women’s health research. She hopes to push for more studies into fertility, hormones and mental wellbeing.
Featured Guest: Heather Verry
With Diabetes Action Month in full swing, Diabetes NZ CEO Heather Verry is calling on Kiwis to take simple, proactive steps to prevent and manage diabetes.
Speaking about the growing health challenge, Heather explained the difference between type 1, an autoimmune condition not linked to lifestyle, and type 2 diabetes, which is largely influenced by diet and inactivity.
Alarmingly, cases of type 2 diabetes are rising among children, often due to intergenerational and lifestyle factors like processed foods and sugary drinks.
Heather emphasised that early detection and lifestyle changes can help prevent or even reverse type 2 diabetes. She urged people to see their GP if they notice symptoms such as excessive thirst, tiredness or frequent urination.
Featured Guest: Ben Prince Saxon
Marathon runner and cystic fibrosis advocate Ben Prince-Saxon is proving that determination can defy diagnosis.
Living with cystic fibrosis, Ben has set himself a goal of completing 12 marathons in 12 months to raise awareness and funds for Cystic Fibrosis New Zealand.
Diagnosed at age four, Ben faced severe fatigue and breathing difficulties throughout childhood. Now, he’s using his renewed strength to push physical limits once thought impossible for people with cystic fibrosis.

Resident Pharmacist: Piyara Perera
This week, Piyara joined Mike to share insights on the natural benefits of ivy leaf, a herbal remedy that has long been used to treat coughs and congestion.
Found in many pharmacy cough syrups, ivy leaf extract helps relax airway muscles, reduce inflammation and soothe irritation in the throat - making it effective for both dry and chesty coughs.
It works by thinning mucus for easier clearance and calming the cough reflex to stop that persistent tickle.
Featured Product: Prospan Bronchial Syrup
Prospan is the world’s no.1 herbal bronchial formula, trusted by millions.
It uses a unique ivy extract EA 575, which is more potent than standard ivy and helps clear the airways and soothe the throat.
If you haven’t noticed already, Prospan has new look packaging! With no added sugar, artificial colours or flavours, there’s something for everyone with Prospan Bronchial Syrup for adults as well as one for children (suitable for children under 2) and lozenges for on-the-go support.
