Jane’s Addiction have officially put their lawyers back in their cases, settling the lawsuits they’d lodged against each other after a very messy year for the band.
Back in July, guitarist Dave Navarro, bassist Eric Avery, and drummer Stephen Perkins filed a US$10 million lawsuit against frontman Perry Farrell. They accused him of assault and battery following the “brutal and unprovoked” incident during their concert last year.
Farrell fired back a lawsuit of his own, denying all of the allegations made against him.
At this point, things were already grim for the band. Their reunion tour was canned, despite selling over 100,000 tickets across multiple cities.
Now, according to People Magazine, the whole legal saga has been dismissed. The case was officially dropped on Monday December 22, by both the band members and the Superior Court of California, County of Los Angeles.
The parties have reached a settlement, but no details have been made public about what that settlement actually involves. No dollar figures, no statements, no long Instagram posts. Just… done.
This news comes a week after the members officially confirmed the band would be going their separate ways.
Farrell apologised to the band and to fans for his behaviour, and thanked everyone for their support. The remaining members also released a joint statement, confirming that they had resolved their differences, but have called time on their journey together.
Sometimes bands burn out quietly. Sometimes they go out with a court date. This one did a bit of both.
