Jane’s Addiction frontman Perry Farrell has issued a public apology after last year’s on-stage punch-up with guitarist Dave Navarro, an incident that derailed the band’s reunion tour and sent everything sideways.

The moment happened during the band’s Boston show in September 2024, when Farrell lashed out at Navarro mid-song.

Unsurprisingly, the tour was quickly cancelled, and not long after, the band announced they were going on hiatus.

Things got messy earlier this year when Navarro, Eric Avery and Stephen Perkins filed a lawsuit against Farrell. Farrell responded with a lawsuit of his own.

Bit of a full-blown legal bloodbash if you will.

Now, Farrell has broken his silence with a statement posted to Instagram, addressing the incident directly.

“To everyone in Boston, and around the world. I’d like to address what happened on stage last year. I’ve reflected on it, and I know I didn’t handle myself the way I should have,” he started with the apology. “I apologize to our patrons and my bandmates for losing my temper and for disrupting the show.”

He went on to acknowledge the band’s legacy and the disappointment felt by fans.

“My aim has always been to give our audience the best possible show, something real, honest and positive. In Boston, we fell short of that, and I’m truly sorry to everyone who was impacted.”

The remaining members of Jane’s Addiction also released a joint statement, clarifying what led to the tour’s cancellation and confirming the band has now gone their separate ways.

“We would like to clarify the events surrounding the cancellation of the tour after the show in Boston in September 2024.

After that show, without notice to Perry, we unilaterally determined it would be best to not continue the tour and made inaccurate statements about Perry’s mental health which we regret.”

“Today we are here to announce that we have come together to resolve our differences, so that the legacy of Jane’s Addiction will remain the work the four of us created together.”

They finished the statement off with, “We now look forward to the future as we embark on our separate musical and creative endeavors. Jane’s Addiction will forever live in our hearts.”

It’s nice to finally have the silence broken, but definitely gutting news.
