Jack Osbourne broke down in tears as he shared the heartbreaking moment he learned of his dad Ozzy Osbourne’s death.
The Prince of Darkness died on July 22, aged 76, just weeks after performing his final Black Sabbath gig - the last time Jack saw his dad in person.
In an emotional new YouTube video, Jack recalled the early-morning knock on his door that instantly told him something was terribly wrong with his dad.
“I just knew… something bad had happened,” he said, fighting back tears.
“My father passed away around 10am in the morning UK time. I was in Los Angeles, I had been back for about a week,” he explained.
“After his show, I stuck around for a week with my kids and hung out at the family house in England, and it was awesome. My dad was in an amazing mood. It was a lot of fun, and looking back now, I am so grateful for that time. My dad was great. He was happy."
Jack recalled waking up to the knock at around 3:45am in LA, from someone who had worked for the family for about 30 years.
“I was informed that my father had passed,” he said.
The youngest Osbourne took us back through his thoughts in the moment, aside from the “sadness, pain and frustration”.
“There was a level of like ‘okay, he's not struggling. He's not suffering anymore’. And that is something.”
I wish he was still here, you know? I wish he was still with us all, but he was having a rough go, you know, and I think people saw that at the show.
“No one expected it to happen as quickly as it did.”
Following the news, Jack immediately booked a flight back to England to be with family. Ozzy was buried a week later, on July 30, during a private funeral attended by family and close friends.
At the end of the video, Jack revealed that more stories from Ozzy’s last days will be shared “when the time is right”, and said he was blown away by how much love his father received from fans all over the world.
"I speak for the family when I saw this - we are so grateful for that and it meant so much. It was validating because I know we weren't alone," he added.
He also stressed that his father’s legacy will live on. "Ozzy Osbourne does not end because he passed away - he's exploding through the universe and we're all seeing it."
The emotional video comes just days after Jack savagely slammed Roger Waters over harsh comments the Pink Floyd frontman made about Ozzy's career earlier this week.
