As a former two-time UFC Middleweight champion, you could say Israel Adesanya has clocked the world of combat sports. But recently, the Stylebender has stepped into a new arena.

He’s teamed up with Audiology to launch a brand-new festival, where he will be playing his first-ever DJ set. Is there anything this man can’t do?!

Afrosoul celebrates African culture and community through music, art, food, and dance - with a spotlight shining big and bright on the afrobeats and amapiano genres.

And for the first time in Aotearoa, Nigerian singer, songwriter Burna Boy will be taking the stage to headline the whole thing.

Ahead of the big day, Izzy jumped on George Mahi Mix with Abeiku for a chat and an exclusive B2B mix.

He opened up about what inspired Afrosoul.

“It’s just about bringing people together, we’re all one,” he began.

“I just want people to come through and just be able to have fun, without ego, without prejudice, and thinking like, I’m better than...”

Nah, f*ck that mentality, We’re all one.

“That’s the thing, I want to bring everybody together to celebrate our culture.”

Izzy continued: “As a black Kiwi with the biggest wings, I’m able to stay here and represent for New Zealand. I’m able to put this country on the map, but also I’m able to represent for my people and let both cultures shine through.”

There’s no reason why we can’t all shine together.

And it sounds like this DJ debut is just the beginning.

“I really think I’m going to be an amapiano-based DJ but playing everything else,” Izzy teased.

You can catch Izzy and Abeiku’s full B2B here.

Afrosoul is going down this weekend at Lilyword in Auckland.
