Guy Mansell's tribute to 'strong' wife Meg after birth of second baby

"I'll always be eternally grateful."

Meg Mansell’s husband, Guy, is celebrating her strength after the birth of their second child - a beautiful baby girl.

Introducing Miller Lake Mansell to the world this morning, Guy shared some of the first images of their newborn daughter being held by Meg.

“Brought into this world by her strong and brave mum,” Guy began. “Watching Meg go through childbirth again was a mixture of immense pride and awe, but also genuine despair.”

He opened up about the emotions of being a father during labour.

“The feeling of helplessness as the partner is intense, as you can only be there as support,” he said.

“However, it's overshadowed by the pure admiration you have for your person - for enduring pregnancy and now birth to bring you your child.”

Guy went on to express how proud he is of Meg for “finishing” their family of four.

“I'll always be eternally grateful that she brought me my girls x.”

As for Meg, she took a moment to return the love and praise Guy for his support during the birth.

“I don't think anyone would doubt Guy would be an amazing birth partner during labour and postpartum, but he was even more than I had hoped or dreamed for,” she wrote.

“Knowledgeable, informed, strong, a great advocate and an empathetic carer. I marvel at how blessed these now two girls are to have him as their Dad."

That excitement and admiration is shared by Meg’s radio whānau at The Edge, with co-host Dan Webby saying he’s “over the moon” for Guy, Meg, and now big sister Daisy.

“They’re made for it, to be parents to girls,” he said. “They’re honestly the cutest little family.”

They’ve done an amazing job.

There’s no doubt little Miller is surrounded by love from her incredible parents and, of course, all of us at The Edge.
