Twenty years after Always and Never, Goodnight Nurse are hitting the road for the final time, reuniting past and present members for one massive, millennial-nostalgia-filled farewell.

Joel Little emerged onto the New Zealand music scene in one of the greatest pop-punk bands we have ever had in Aotearoa New Zealand, a band that is now about to embark on their last tour ever, 20 years after their debut album Always and Never first hit the scene.

Goodnight Nurse are finally going to say goodbye, and it makes me so sad.

Goodnight Nurse shows are just so nostalgic and fun. There is nothing like yelling the part where they say, “I think I love this song!” in Death Goes to Disco. It’s incredible, and the tour is already selling out so fast.

But the thing is, this band is a pillar of the talent we have in New Zealand music.

Not only do we have Joel Little, who has gone on to work with some of the greatest artists in the world, including Taylor Swift: I mean, the Eras Tour, the entire first section of songs were all produced by Joel Little. That is an incredible feat.

He’s then gone on to get millions and millions of plays with songs like Imagine Dragons’ Whatever It Takes and Khalid’s Young Dumb & Broke. There are so many to name that I can’t even list them all for you right now.

But if you want to hear all the behind-the-scenes stories, then check out my chat with him on A Little Bit Extra right now.

Not only is Joel a crazy high-achiever in the music scene, but so is Jaden Parkes, who is now working with artists through his A&R job at Sony Music New Zealand. He’s also part of the band LEISURE, which is absolutely killing it not only here in New Zealand, but overseas as well. They’ve got this supergroup of talented Kiwi musicians all together making incredible music.

The cool thing about this Goodnight Nurse tour is that not only will they be pulling in the amazingness that is Rowan Crowe, who joined Goodnight Nurse after original member Paul left the band, but they’re also bringing Paul back from New York to play all of the songs from Always and Never that he was originally part of.

Then they’ll bring Rowan out for the songs from Keep Me on Your Side.

This is going to be one of the most nostalgic, millennial-infested shows, and I absolutely cannot wait to be front left.

So if you haven’t got your tickets yet, my friend, do not waste your time. Christchurch is already sold out, and Auckland and Wellington are super close.
