Come Together: The Kiwi talent performing rock’s most legendary albums

What ‘NZ’s most electrifying concert experience’ is all about.

The second lot of Come Together shows are right around the corner, with this month's live concert experiences of Pink Floyd’s ‘Dark Side of the Moon’ kicking off tonight at Wellington’s Opera House (the first of three shows around the country).

The lineup of this show includes Kiwi musicians Mike Hall, a talented bassist, and Brett Adams, who recently blew us away with his guitar skills at the Biggest Pub Gig in the World.

They both sat down with Robert Taylor and Georgia Cubbon from The Sound’s Morning Sound to chat all things Come Together.

From how they’ve channelled their respective Pink Floyd counterparts (with a friendly tease at Hall being the difficult Roger Waters of the band), to how they’ll be mimicking the unique sound effects on the album, and then to the challenges they’ve faced and the lessons they’ve learnt.

Watch below for the whole chat, grab tickets here if you’re keen for a night of legendary music and Kiwi talent, and read on if you’re wondering what the hell Come Together is!

For those who don’t know what Come Together is, it’s a celebration of music in more ways than one. Legendary rock albums are played by an array of Kiwi music talent (a supergroup of the cream of the NZ music crop) who come together to play these albums “live, loud and in full”

Much more than a tribute, these artists put their spin on things, injecting their own style and talent into the music, while still staying true to the essence of the album. A truly awesome experience for all involved.

This year, the event (which has become one of the country’s most electrifying live concert experiences) celebrates its fifth anniversary, with performances from three albums, across three months, with three sets of rock concerts.

The albums featured in this series of shows are Neil Young’s ‘Live Rust’, Pink Floyd’s ‘Dark Side of the Moon’, and Led Zeppelin's ‘II’ album.

The first of these concert celebrations, ‘Live Rust’, went ahead in June. Notable talent for this show included Jon Toogood and Dianne Swann, who The Morning Sound also interviewed that month.

From what we hear, those first shows proved good fun and great nights seemed to be had by all, with one review stating,

“Brilliant show, well played and excellent versions of songs, nice to hear them sung by different voices. Jon Toogood was great and Reb Fountain totally blew us away with her solo performance at the piano. A talented lineup of musicians”

The Sound’s 50-50-50 show host Marty Duda also gave a glowing review for the night, which you can read here

Now it’s time for the second series of concerts, which will see ‘Dark Side of the Moon’ by Pink Floyd turned into an epic experience in what we’re sure will be just as brilliant a night.
