Chris Luxon invites Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce to get married in NZ

"Now, I know you might not be thinking this far ahead…"

New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon has proven he’s a Swiftie, officially inviting Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce to tie the knot here in Aotearoa.

In a clip shared to the National Party’s Instagram, Luxon filmed a selfie-style pitch with a surprisingly solid case.

“Taylor and Travis, a big congratulations on this fantastic news. Getting engaged is such an exciting time,” he began.

“Now, I know you might not be thinking this far ahead, but there would be no better place in the world than to have the wedding here in New Zealand. Or even your honeymoon.”

Then came the sell.

“I've got to tell you, New Zealand is a stunning country, and we’ve got places like Aoraki Mount Cook, which offers jaw-dropping alpine views. There’s Waitomo Caves that light up the dark with thousands of glowworms. Or maybe you fancy cliff diving in Queenstown, surrounded by towering mountains and crystal-clear lakes.”

He added: “Now we also have, without doubt, the best and friendliest people in the world. And I bet you, Travis, you would love to watch some rugby here, too.”

The ‘Love Story’ singer may have skipped us on her worldwide 'Eras Tour', but nothing would make it up to Kiwi fans quite like her and the Kansas City Chiefs footballer getting hitched on our shores.

Someone agreed in Luxon's comments, writing: "I mean she didn’t come here for the Eras Tour so she does owe us…”

But not everyone thinks the couple would be down for it. One commenter said, “She will look at the prices and hop back in her jet and fly off!”

Others reckon the PM has more personal reasons for extending the invitation, adding: "Tell us you’re a Taylor Swift fan without telling us."

Taylor announced their engagement yesterday with a joint Instagram post alongside her new fiancé, sharing a carousel of dreamy, whimsical snaps, and showing off a very gorgeous diamond ring.

“Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married," they wrote in the caption.

Meanwhile, Kelce’s dad has since spilled details about when the proposal happened and how he helped push his son to get down on one knee.

So, shall we all start flooding Tayvis’ DMs until a New Zealand wedding is a done deal?
