The Breakfast Club has uncovered the real cost of a $2 dairy mix: one Jersey Caramel and a whole lot of emotional damage.

It started with Lana's mission to buy old-school $1 mixes. The dairies he visited were out of them after the weekend rush, so the crew got upgraded to $2 bags instead.

At first, it looked like a win. The bags felt generous, and everyone got stuck into a proper nostalgic rummage. There were Jaffas, wine gums, gummy teeth and plenty of lollies that sparked strong opinions.

Simon found one Jersey Caramel and was absolutely delighted. “This is really good stuff,” he said. “They are as good as I remember.” For someone who is not often spotted snacking, that is a glowing review.

Unfortunately, the rest of his bag was less dreamy. Simon counted five Glow Hearts and six spearmint leaves, calling them the “most disgusting” lollies in the mix. Meanwhile, another bag somehow landed 21 lollies.

The team began to suspect foul play, particularly when Simon’s bag seemed unusually packed with his least favourite treats. Speedy eventually came clean: he and Jay had rearranged the bag at home before bringing it in.

The spearmint leaves were the final talking point. “They are massive,” the team agreed, with Lana suggesting they were now “like fig leaves.” Not exactly the sweet little leaves of childhood.
