Bondy is back, sharing why his family’s last few weeks changed everything.
Bondy is back on deck with The Breakfast Club, sharing the frightening family journey that kept him away for the past three weeks.
His wife Erin, normally healthy and fit, woke one Sunday with swollen toes and a finger before nearly passing out in the shower. After-hours care led to blood tests, then a call telling the family to get to hospital.
Doctors discovered a virus was aggressively attacking Erin’s heart. Bondy said the news moved quickly from uncertainty to emergency open-heart surgery the following day.
“There’s conversations that you shouldn’t have to have,” he told Si and Lana. With their boys needing reassurance and no clear answers at first, Bondy was trying to juggle hospital visits, home life and school pick-ups while processing the fear of it all.
Thankfully, Erin’s surgery went well. She is now home, recovering, with daily nurse visits, doctor appointments and a three-month recovery ahead.
Bondy had a special message for the people who stepped in when his family needed them most: “If it wasn’t for our health staff, whether you’re a doctor, a nurse, or whoever, my wife would not be here today.”
He also thanked friends and family for every kind message and meal dropped at the door. “It meant so much,” he said.
While the family is not fully out of the woods, Bondy says Erin is “doing great” and everything is tracking well. The Breakfast Club family is sending all its love to Erin, Bondy and their boys.
