The Breakfast Club found Motueka’s most unusual lost-property post.
A mystery whip on a Motueka roadside has cracked open a classic community-page comment storm.
The Breakfast Club’s Si and Lana spotted the unusual post from Tracy on the Motueka Buy, Sell and Community Page. Her message was simple: “If you’re missing your whip, it’s on Parker Street. Back to the hand sanitizer for me.”
Naturally, the comments did not leave it there.
First up was Gary, who wanted to know what time it had been found. When Tracy said about 7.15am, he connected it to a silver Nissan Pulsar he had seen speeding down Parker Street shortly before 7am. A bold bit of roadside detective work from Gazza.
Then Sharon entered the chat, declaring in capital letters, “This is exactly why Motueka is going downhill.” Gary suggested it may have been dropped by people on a hens night, but Sharon was having none of it.
“There is no just about it,” she replied. “It’s disrespectful to expect the elderly to pick it up, and think of the dogs.” Fair call, really. Think of the dogs is a difficult point to argue with.
The yarn took another turn when Sharon said a dog she once had “accidentally ate something of this nature” and needed a trip to Nelson for treatment. When Gary asked what it ate, Sharon wisely shut that line of questioning down: “Kids are on here, Gary.”
