We are officially losing it in the group chat today! Ash is coming to you live as "Raspiana" thanks to a lost voice, but that didn’t stop us from diving straight into absolute chaos. From Adrian's brand-new (and highly questionable) nickname for hormone season to the ultimate tragedy of a $129 toy failure, you are truly not ready for how fast this episode spirals. Plus, we look back at a viral video disaster that nearly got someone completely disowned. Hit play and join the madness—we laugh, we cry, and we definitely talk a bit too much about family group chats! We’re The Ash London Show, a NZ music radio show on The Edge from 3–7pm weekdays! This is our pre-show podcast, where we get a little bit cheeky ;) See more from The Ash London Show at @theashlondonshow and @theedgenz Find your next favourite show and see more behind-the-scenes content on rova’s Instagram @rova.nz Hosts: Ash London, Harrison Keefe, & Yas Coe Executive Producer: Samantha Harding Producer: Nepia Ruwhiu
The group chat is officially losing it today as we unpack the pure madness of life, family, and unexpected bills. Ash kicks things off with a massive shout-out to all our new global listeners sliding into the DMs before getting real about "pajama day" and the arrival of her period. Her husband Adrian—who happens to be our boss—had the most hilarious, 43-year-old-man reaction to the news, announcing that "Captain P has sailed in". This, of course, opens the floodgates for some hilariously honest menstrual chat, including the time Ash got a menstrual cup stuck and almost forced Adrian to "scrub in" like a surgeon on Grey's Anatomy to get it out.
The parental chaos continues with the saga of Ash's four-year-old son, Buddy, who is apparently trying his hand at investing. After saving up his coins, he insisted on buying a $129 Megazord toy at Farmers. Despite being warned by Ash that the toy literally does nothing but make a noise and pivot its arms, Buddy claimed it was the best day of his life—only to face absolute, crushing disappointment twenty seconds after it was unboxed. Now he owes the Bank of Mum and Dad eight coins for a toy everyone absolutely hates.
Just when you thought the stories couldn't get more absurd, Yas lets slip a story about Harrison’s past that leaves everyone completely shocked. Apparently, a couple of years ago, Harrison’s friends from Te Awamutu were caught physically flipping a car upside down at a party for a laugh. While Harrison claims he was inside the whole time and had absolutely nothing to do with the bogan behavior, Ash and Yas are not letting him off the hook easily.
We wrap up the madness by venting about the absolute misery of New Zealand tax bills and student loans. After Harrison admits his tax returns just get swallowed by his student debt, the team plots the ultimate escape plan: Harrison faking his death on air and returning tomorrow with a shaved mustache and prosthetics under the alias "Gareth Pattinson". It’s a wild ride from start to finish, so grab your headphones and join the madness.
