Port Nelson Open Day returns this Sunday

Port Nelson is opening its gates this Sunday, 22nd March, for a rare behind‑the‑scenes look at one of the region’s busiest hubs. The Port Nelson Community Open Day invites locals to explore normally restricted areas, check out the big machinery, meet the teams who keep the port moving, and enjoy live demos throughout the day.

This isn’t just an industry open day - it’s a full community celebration! Families can expect kids’ activities, marine displays, food trucks, community stalls, and plenty of hands‑on fun.

This year’s event also marks a major milestone - 125 years since the formation of the Nelson Harbour Board, the foundation of the modern port. The Open Day is a chance to celebrate the port’s history, its people, and its ongoing role in supporting the region’s economy and community.
