Cyclists from across New Zealand and beyond are invited to lock in their place at the 2026 Lake Taupō Cycle Challenge, with entries officially open for the iconic event taking place on Saturday 28 November 2026.

Approaching its landmark 50th anniversary in 2028, the Lake Taupō Cycle Challenge remains one of the Southern Hemisphere’s most celebrated cycling events, bringing together first-timers, families, social riders, and pros for an unforgettable day around the shores of Lake Taupō.
Built on nearly five decades of experience, the event has earned a reputation for being iconic, down-to-earth, and welcoming to all. It’s an event that celebrates personal achievement, epic scenery, camaraderie, and the unmistakable buzz of riding alongside thousands of others in one of the world’s most spectacular destinations.
Roadies
Alongside the iconic Shimano Round The Lake (approx.160km), the epic 2-lap Enduro (approx. 320km), and the Independent Traffic Control Length of the Lake (approx. 55km), there’s also the Great Lake 100 (approx. 100km)!
Mountain Bikers
Take on the legendary Huka Teaser (approx. 30km), Huka Steamer (approx. 50km), or the Tineli Huka Challenge (approx. 70km), all on the region’s world-class pumice tracks!
Gravel Grinders
The Gravel Grind (approx. 83km) is back and better than ever!

The Lakesider (approx. 16km) is the perfect way to get everyone involved!
