Tickets
Breeze’s Community Tree planting day with NOVUS Glass is coming to Christchurch and we would love to have you there!
We are planting native trees on behalf of everyone who has won a prize on Breeze so far this year.
If you want to join us, come on down, you can even enjoy a free coffee and sausage sizzle after lending a hand!
Where: The Valley Track - Mt Vernon Park
Meeting point: Hillsborough Terrace Carpark
When: Sunday 2 August, from 10:00am
What to bring
A planting spade
Gardening gloves
Sturdy footwear
A water bottle
Your own reusable cup or mug for coffee (encouraged)
On the day
Please sign in at the Hillsborough Terrace Car Park. The walk to the site takes approximately 10–15 minutes and includes a moderate incline. Planting will take place within a marked area above the track.
Getting there
Parking at the Hillsborough Terrace Carpark is limited to around 20 vehicles, so we encourage you to park along Hillsborough Terrace or Albert Terrace where possible.
Public transport is also a great option: Catch the Number 27 (Huntsbury) bus and get off at the top of Wilsons Road/Centaurus Road, near Coca Black café. From there it's around a 10-minute walk to the end of Hillsborough Terrace.
The Orbiter bus also stops nearby at St Martins New World, with a 15–20 minute walk to the meeting point.
Please note that mobile phone reception can be patchy at the planting site.
About Mount Vernon Park
Mount Vernon Park is one of Christchurch's best-kept secrets. Spanning 235 hectares, the park rises from the city's urban edge to Summit Road and beyond, reaching an elevation of 462 metres. Along the way, it offers spectacular views across the dramatic volcanic landscape of Lyttelton Harbour, making it a truly special place to help restore native biodiversity.
Mount Vernon Park Port Hills Park Trust run planting days throughout the year. Find out about other events on the website or Facebook page.
